In the last five years, using technology has become a primary modality to deliver care, and having a precise knowledge of its standards of practice is a must. The use of technology plays an essential role in juvenile justice treatment, including how we interact with youth and their families and for referring youth for services. Understanding how to use technology effectively and safely goes beyond understanding its functionality. This training will assist learners with identifying answers to the following questions and more:
• If I cannot provide services to youth due to capacity limits or if the youth’s needs are out of my scope of practice, what is my role and responsibility to identify other possible resources for the youth?
• Is it appropriate for me or my agency to use social media to identify other possible service options for a potential client seeking resources?
• What are the best practices in using social media for professional networking?
