2027 Call for Presenters Form

Thank you for your interest in presenting at the 2027 NJJA Annual Conference, taking place May 5–6, 2027, in Kearney, Nebraska.

Please review the following information before submitting your proposal:

Proposal Information

  • Submit by: November 20, 2026
  • One application per workshop: Please submit a separate application for each proposed workshop
  • Proposal review: Proposals will be evaluated based on relevance, originality, and opportunities for interactive learning
  • Presenter availability: Presenters must be available Wednesday or Thursday and may be asked to repeat their session
  • Conference schedule: Wednesday, May 5 at 8:45 AM through Thursday, May 6 at 4:30 PM
  • Room setup: Classroom-style seating with AV equipment provided
  • Presentation materials: Slides, handouts, and other requested materials must be submitted to the Communications & Events Coordinator by April 3, 2027
  • Presenter notification: All applicants will be notified by December 30, 2026, whether their proposal was selected

Suggested Topics

We welcome proposals on a variety of topics related to juvenile justice, youth, families, and the professionals who serve them. The following are suggested topics to help spark ideas, but proposals are not limited to this list:

  • Serving high-risk youth and families
  • Mental health and the crisis system, including 988, CCBHCs, and crisis response
  • Substance use prevention and emerging trends
  • Truancy, school refusal, and school attendance
  • Social media, screen time, and youth phone apps
  • Equity and social justice in juvenile justice
  • Evidence-based juvenile programs
  • Positive school culture and student well-being
  • Parent engagement
  • Youth brain development

50-75 word summary description for use in conference program (text may be edited)
500-1,000 word expanded description, which includes: Overview of the subject matter, learning objectives, take aways, resources, explanation of the role of key juvenile justice stakeholders or call to action, and outline of how the content will be presented.
Our Rubric for approval considers overall relevance to Nebraska juvenile justice, freshness of content, application of skills for day to day work, potential replication in other communities, promotion of discussion, engagement of youth and families, and qualification for continuing education.

NJJA is partnering with the Nebraska County Attorneys Association to identify potential presenters for its conference, which will take place on the same dates as the NJJA Annual Conference at the Younes Conference Center–North in Kearney.
